7 Savoy Court Reception
Westminster, London

7 Savoy Court001 Main Entrance

Savoy Court is the private approach road to The Savoy Hotel, Theatre, Grill and Apartments. It was framed in the 1930s by a distinctive stainless steel Art Deco canopy, wrapping around three sides of the court and surmounted by a gilded sculpture of Count Peter.

In 2015 we were invited to develop refurbishment proposals for Savoy Court entrance, reception and four of the upper office floors: implementation followed in two phases, during which the only access to the upper floors, in the reception area, remained in constant use. The first phase covered the full Cat A refurbishment of three office floors, new reception area including new entrance and lift refurbishment. The works were carried out in a single phase with the remainder of the office floors in occupation.

Built in 1904 on the south side of the Strand as an extension to The Savoy Hotel, Savoy Court was designed by T.E. Collcutt with A.H. Mackmurdo as interior consultant, the same team that had completed the Savoy Place-Embankment side block in 1889. It contains eight floors of commercial office accommodation above a necklace of ground floor retail units and entrances above three basement levels. The Strand elevation is occupied by historic restaurant Simpson’s-in-the-Strand. This extends on the first and second floor result in the commercial space being reduced and fragmented.

Following completion of this phase of works in 2018, the building boasts a new, welcoming reception befitting of its location. Classic furniture complements a light-filled space with crafted detailing and a striking, bronze reception desk.
