7 Savoy Court Offices | Hart McGregor

Savoy Court is the private approach road to The Savoy Hotel, Theatre, Grill and Apartments. Designed and built in 1904 on the south side of the Strand as an extension to the hotel by T.E. Collcutt and A.H. Mackmurdo, the same team that had completed the Savoy Place-Embankment side block in 1889, it contains eight floors of commercial office accommodation above ground floor retail units and entrances and three further basement levels. In 2015 our practice was invited to develop refurbishment proposals for the whole 7 Savoy Court site.

Following completion of the new reception entrance and refurbishment of three office floors in 2018, in 2022 Hart McGregor were back at 7 Savoy Court to undertake the full Cat A & CAT B refurbishment of two office floors, including interior design to the second floor. Works were carried out in a single phase, with other floors operation and completed in 2023.

Both floors saw an extensive development of the ceiling design to provide brighter, higher spaces and expose the listed existing windows in their entirety: this was achieved introducing carefully designed exposed services below a microceiling that concealed the unsightly slab. The second floor was developed as a turnkey project, ready for a potential tenant to move in. The interiors were developed in a warm palette, with furniture suiting collaborative working. The fitout divides the floor in a zone with workstations and one for collaboration, with arrival, co-working and meeting areas blurring edges.
